BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany will not offer any aid to Greece on Friday when Chancellor Angela Merkel meets Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou in Berlin, a German government spokesman said on Wednesday.
"The visit of the Greek Prime Minister on Friday evening will serve to discuss the situation as an expression of good German-Greek relations.
"The talks between the Chancellor and the Prime Minister are not, in terms of content, for making any aid commitments," said the spokesman at a regular news conference.
He added the German government welcomed moves by Athens to take further austerity measures and urged Greece to make sure they were implemented. link
"The government is confident that Greece will do its homework, will strengthen the credibility of the country and support the stability of the euro."
